The Hall EMT Academy provides on-the-job training as you prepare to become an emergency medical technician (EMT) working in the Hall Ambulance 9-1-1 system.

Fast Track Your New Career
The Hall EMT Academy is not a school but an accelerated pathway to starting your career at Hall Ambulance as an EMT.
Training occurs at our state-of-the-art training facility, the Harvey L. Hall EMS Academy in Bakersfield.
Weekly lectures are supplemented with hands-on skills assessment, quizzes, and exams.
- Weeks 1 and 2: Company orientation, employee onboarding, and Healthcare Provider CPR course
- Weeks 3 through 10: EMT Course
- EMT Preparatory (Safety, Wellness, Medical/Legal, Anatomy, physiology)
- Patient Assessments
- Airway Management
- Pharmacology
- Shock & Resuscitation
- Medical Emergencies
- Trauma Emergencies
- OB, Neonates, and Pediatrics
- Mass Casualty Incidents,
- Rescues, Hazmat, and EMS Operations
(Hands-on skills are held weekly and coincide with the classroom lectures)
- Week 11: Test with the National Registry of EMTs
- Week 12: Apply for State and County EMT certificate
- Week 13: Begin five weeks of on-the-job field training with a qualified field trainer.


How to Join the Hall EMT Academy: Your 6-Step Path to a Career in EMS
Applying for and being accepted into the Hall EMT Academy involves a six-step process. Each step is dependent on successfully completing the previous to proceed.
Step 1: Apply for the Hall EMT Academy
- If you meet the minimum requirements, you will receive an email invitation to attend an orientation. Click the link and choose a date and time you want to attend.
Step 2: Orientation and Basic Skills Exam
- Orientation provides an overview of the Hall EMT Academy and what a career as an emergency medical technician is like.
- The basic skills exam is based on an 8th-grade level. HINT: Be sure to brush up on your reading, writing, and arithmetic skills in advance of attending orientation and taking the exam! You must score 73/95 or higher to proceed to the next step in the process.
Step 3: First Interview with Recruiter
- This is your opportunity to shine and allow us to get to know you.
Step 4: Ambulance Ride-along
- You’ll spend a shift riding along with an EMS crew on an ambulance to get a first-hand view of what it is like to help those in need of medical aid as a Hall EMT.
Step 5: 2nd Interview with Operations Manager
- This is a much more in-depth interview that will allow us to decide whether you would be a good match for the Hall EMT Academy and a career in EMS with Hall Ambulance.
Step 6: Acceptance into the Hall EMT Academy
- Congratulations, and get ready to embark on your new career where you will make a difference for your community!
