Hall Ambulance Paramedic Receives County Wide Honors

In a special meeting on Monday, September 20, 2010, members of the Bakersfield Kiwanis Club met to honor emergency services personnel at their annual Responders Recognition Luncheon. The meeting was officiated by President Adam Alvidrez, and recognized personnel from the California Highway Patrol, Kern County Fire Department, Bakersfield Police Department, Bakersfield Fire Department, Kern County Sheriff’s Department, Kern County Probation Department, and Hall Ambulance’s Ken Sexton.

Paramedic Sexton was recognized for his work in the East Kern County community of Boron, where he volunteers his time with the Boron Senior Center. Sexton began his career with Hall Ambulance in August of 2007. Once arriving in Boron, he began to develop a relationship with the community through weekly visits to the Boron Senior Center. According to Sexton, “a simple blood pressure check can help give a little piece of mind to seniors in a rural setting like Boron”.

Hall Ambulance Service President and Founder, Harvey L. Hall, said that “because of Ken’s actions, potentially life threatening cardiac conditions have been detected during the blood pressure screenings, requiring subsequent hospitalization for the patients”. In addition to his commitment medically, Ken and his partner, Donnie Self, have given back to the center by coordinating an annual barbecue for the seniors, enlisting the support of his Hall Ambulance co-workers.
